John Mwangi was one of the community mentors we recruited in May 2015 to facilitate sessions in the schools we selected for our Secondary School Programme. He was a student in Starehe Boys High School who did his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination in 2013. He was accepted by Dartmouth College and is going to begin his degree in the autumn of 2015.
Add a commentCynthia Kairu is a mentor with the School Series Programme. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Community Development. Initially, she joined the team as one of our community mentors. She then successfully applied for the position of programme coordinator. As such, she was incharge of running the Secondary School Programme throughout 3rd term. Here is her account of the term:
Add a commentStephanie Wachira is a second year student at University of Nairobi’s School of Medicine. She applied to work for School Series as a mentor during her holiday. She is a natural leader who likes to counsel and mentor her peers as well as those younger than her.
Add a commentIn December 2014, the Ford Foundation awarded School Series a small grant to run our Secondary School Programme in various underprivileged high schools in Nairobi. This programme was rolled out in January 2015 when we began looking for schools in which we could run it in and people we could hire to facilitate the programme in the schools we selected.
