School Series has begun the process of transforming the Toolkit from its current facilitator-and-students-in-a-room model to an online version. The digital platform we’ll create will incorporate the best practices of digital education and learning initiatives such as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and Self Organised Learning Environments (SOLE) to create a group learning atmosphere. This will enable us to create a resource that offers a safe yet fun system to teach life skills to young Kenyans.

The School Series© Programme is a psycho-social life-skills and mentorship programme for young people. Through the School Series© Programme, young people are empowered to discover and begin to develop their true potential, therefore ensuring that the country has a generation of confident, intelligent and driven youth leaders for the present and future. Our Programme is targeted at youth aged between 14-25 years old, as these years are critical in establishing a person’s character and setting the foundation for the rest of their lives.

As we anticipated, 2015 is turning out to be a very eventful year for School Series. We are currently running 3 programmes:

  1. Secondary School Programme with a private group
  2. The Ford Foundation funded Secondary School programme in various high schools in Nairobi
  3. Life School Programme with AkiraChix

To help us more effectively run these and any other programmes we may take on, we are looking to expand our team by bringing on another Programme Coordinator.

School Series is growing and will have a busy 2015. We are therefore looking to immediately hire a Coordinator on a permanent basis to take charge of the Programme's management and growth. Our ideal coordinator is a person who is passionate about social development and working with young people, and is capable of working with people from varied cultural, social-economic, religious, sexual orientations, and educational backgrounds.

Having been a participant and an attendee at a number of girls’ Finishing Schools, the boys’ Finishing School experience was a completely new experience all together. The boys’ raw energy could be felt the instant one walked into Shani School- where the seminar was being held. Their anticipation and eagerness to learn coupled with their open, uninhibited curiosity was written all over their faces every time they were instructed to take part in an activity.
